A new algorithm based on data can predict mortality risks for certain heart surgery patients
Mount Sinai researchers developed a machine-learning-based method that allows medical facilities forecast the mortality risks for certain cardiac surgery patient. The new model is the first institution specific model to determine the risk of a patient’s cardiac surgery before surgery. It was developed by using large amounts of Electronic Health Data.
Comparing data-driven models to current population-derived ones reveals significant performance improvements.
