Doctors Transplant 3D-Printed Ear Made From Patient’s Cells
The New York Times reported that a team of scientists from 3DBio Therapeutics successfully implanted an ear 3D-printed using the patient’s cells.
Experts say that this is a world first in tissue engineering and could herald a new age of regenerative medicines.
Adam Feinberg of Carnegie Mellon’s biomedical engineering department, who wasn’t involved in the project but was a witness to it, told The New York Times that \”it is definitely a huge deal\”. It shows that this technology is no longer an \”if\” but rather a \”when .’\”.
