AI-Designed protein can awaken silenced genes, one
Researchers can now switch on specific genes that control cell growth, development and function.
Combining CRISPR with a protein created with artificial intelligence allows you to activate individual genes that are dormant by disabling chemical \”off switches\”. Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, describe this discovery in the journal Cell Reports.
Researchers will be able to better understand how genes affect normal cell growth and differentiation, as well as aging and diseases such cancer. Shiri Levy is a UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine ISCRM postdoctoral scholar and lead author.
