Google DeepMind has found a new way to speed up code.
Peter Sanders, a researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) who is not involved with the project and studies the design and implementation of efficient algorithmic methods and was not part of the research, said: \”It’s a new approach.\” He says that sorting is one of the most commonly used subroutines for computing.
DeepMind has published its findings in Nature today. The techniques AlphaDev developed are being used by software developers worldwide. DeepMind’s new sorting algorithm was submitted to the organization responsible for C++ in January 2022. After two months of independent testing, AlphaDev algorithms were included. It was the first time in over a decade that C++’s sorting algorithm had been updated. This update also included the first AI-discovered algorithm.
