AI-controlled vertical farms produce 400 times more food on an acre than flat farms
This is for those who say that life extension will cause overpopulation. This is just one of many changes that will occur before life extension can create such a problem.
Nate Storey co-founded Plenty, a San Francisco based agtech startup. The company has increased its production and productivity by implementing artificial intelligence in its farming strategy. The farm farms of the company cover only 2 acres, but produce 720 acres of fruit and vegetable. They manage their production using robots and artificial intelligent.
The company claims that their farm produces 400 times more food on an acre than traditional farms. Robots and artificial intelligence are used to monitor the water consumption, ambient temperature, and light levels of the growing environment. The AI will learn to produce better crops with less time over time.
This is not only good for the food, but also for conserving resources. Water is recycled, and evaporating water is captured so that there is almost no waste. Startup estimates that the smart farm produces better fruits, vegetables and uses 95% less water than normal farming operations.
