Raw data shows AI signals mimic how the brain learns and listens
Researchers at the University of California Berkeley have found that AI systems can process signals very similarly to the way the brain interprets language. This finding could help scientists explain how AI systems work.
Scientists from the Berkeley Speech and Computation Lab used electrodes to measure brain waves while participants listened a single word — bah. The scientists compared the brain activity with signals produced by a machine learning system that was trained to learn English.
Gasper Begus is an assistant professor of linguistics and the lead author for the recent study in Scientific Reports. \”That shows that similar things are encoded and processed in a similar way.\”
