AMA with David Sinclair: The Role of NAD+ In Aging

Dr. David Sinclair, AMA

On the 23rd, Dr. David Sinclair hosted an Ask Me Anything on the Futurology Subreddit to support the NAD+ Mouse Project at Lifespan.io. The community asked him a variety of questions about his research on aging, and in particular the role of NAD+.

Dr. David A. Sinclair teaches genetics at Harvard Medical School and is a joint professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology of the University of New South Wales. He is also the co-director of the Paul F. Glenn Laboratories, which studies biological mechanisms of aging. He is also a Senior Scholar of Ellison Medical Foundation. He received his Ph.D. degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of New South Wales in Sydney in 1995. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at M.I.T. He co-discovered with Dr. Leonard Guarente a cause for aging in yeast, as well as Sir2’s role in epigenetic modifications driven by genome instability.

He has also been in the spotlight recently for his research on NAD+ precursors, their role in aging, and how to replace NAD+ that is lost as we age. This has helped to develop therapies to delay diseases associated with old age. Here are some of the questions and answers that were asked during the AMA. We encourage you to visit Reddit Futurology and see the other questions.
