Assessment of AI Risk Skepticism
How can we deal with the notion that AI advances pose catastrophic risks to humanity’s wellbeing?
Since many years, two sets of arguments circulate online. However, in light of recent events they have each taken on new forms, and are now attracting more attention from the general public. First, the first group argues that AI is a serious threat. The second group is sceptical. The second group is sceptical.
We assessed the skeptical viewpoints in this London Futurists Webinar, recorded on May 27, 2023. We were guided by Vemir Ambartsoumean, Roman Yampolskiy, and the authors of \”AI Risk Skepticism – A Comprehensive Survey\”, which was published recently. Mariana Todorova was also present, a member from the Millennium Project AGI scenarios team.
David Wood, Chairman of London Futurists, introduced and moderated the meeting.
