Cerebras Systems signs $100 Million AI supercomputer contract with UAE’s G42
Cerebras Systems announced on July 20 that it had signed a $100 million contract to deliver the first in a series of up to nine AI supercomputers. The deal was made with United Arab Emirates technology group G42.
Cloud computing providers are looking for alternatives to Nvidia Corp’s (NVDA.O) chips, the leader in AI computing whose product supply is in shortfall due to the popularity of ChatGPT. Cerebras, one of many startups seeking to compete with Nvidia, is a recent addition.
Cerebras, a Silicon Valley-based company, said G42 had agreed to buy three Condor Galaxy systems that it would build in the U.S.A. The first system will be online in this year. Two more are expected to arrive early 2024.
