CPUC Approves Robotaxi Service 24/7 in San Francisco by Waymo and Cruis.

Cruise: Waymo is nearing approval for charging 24/7 robotaxis charges in San Francisco

Waymo and Cruise, two self-driving car companies, are close to securing the final approval for charging fares during the day and night hours in San Francisco for robotaxi rides that are fully autonomous.

California Public Utilities Commission published two draft resolutions last week in response to growing opposition to AVs. These would allow Cruise and Waymo to expand the service area and hours of operation of their robotaxi services.

The drafts date for an hearing on June 29. Public comments are still welcome and are due by May 31. According to the CPUC draft language, most of the objections made by the City of San Francisco were already rejected.
