He avoids bread and dairy in his life-extensionist mode. However, he eats all sorts of other foods. His diet includes pills branded \”Cognitive\” which he claims has all kinds of nourishing effects for his brain. What good is it to maintain the body without also maintaining the mind? These pills are part a self directed anti-ageing program that involves a lot swallowing. Strole also takes vitamins, multi-nutrients, and metformin – a diabetes medication that is so popular with life extensionists, that it has been dubbed \”the aspirin for anti-ageing\”. He takes a cold plunge in his pool in the mornings when the Arizona air still feels brisk to boost his immune system. At some point, he also lies on an electromagnetic mat which whirls silently and opens up his veins.
Some people sleep on electromagnetic mats while others take up to 150 pills per day. Are ‘life-extensionists’ closer to discovering the secret to longevity? Alex Moshakis talks to some people who are determined to be immortal.
