Dr Brandon Berry, PhD — Exploring Mitochondrial Bioenergetics, Optogenetics, Human Health And Aging
Explore Mitochondrial Bioenergetics and Optogenetics in Human Health And Aging – Dr. Brandon Berry Ph.D. University of Washington
Dr. Brandon Berry, Ph.D. (https://halo.dlmp.uw.edu/people/brandon-berry/) is a postdoctoral researcher in the Kaeberlein Laboratory at University of Washington where his research focuses on how aging and metabolism are linked.
Dr. Berry’s research focuses on how mitochondria, which are the powerhouses in cells, modulate and contribute to functional decline during aging. He uses novel tools like optogenetics to control mitochondria and metabolism precisely with light. These experiments allow him to determine more precisely if mitochondrial malfunction is the cause or consequence of metabolic ageing and could reveal new ways of understanding and impacting health.
Dr. Berry holds a BS in Biochemistry and Physiology degrees from the University of Rochester.
