Decoding Aging Process: Impact of Blood Dilution (Irina conboy at EARD).
Blood dilution can be very beneficial.
Irina conboy, a doctor, discusses in this presentation the role of regeneration and repair on lifespan and healthspan. She argues that these factors rather than entropy or time progression are what truly governs our aging. She describes the research that her team is conducting to determine if improving the efficiency in which older people repair their bodies could make them appear younger. She suggests biological age can be reversed, and discusses plasma dilution and heterochronic parabiosis as possible ways to achieve that. Conboy highlights new research that suggests older blood has greater impact on cell health and function. She explains the results of her team’s research into the rejuvenation effect of plasma dilution. This showed that it had a significant impact in reducing senescence and neuroinflammation as well as promoting neurogenesis.

The Speaker:
Irina conboy is a professor at the University of California in Berkeley, Department of Bioengineering. In 2005, she published a seminal article in Nature that described the rejuvenating properties of young blood. This discovery paved the path for the thriving field known as rejuvenation. Conboy’s lab is currently focused on tissue repair and maintenance, stem cell niche engineering and elucidating mechanisms behind muscle stem cell aging.
