Elon Musk buys ten thousand GPUs for secret AI project
Insider reported that Elon Musk, Twitter’s CEO, has purchased around 10,000 graphics cards. He is also hiring AI experts in order to create a ChatGPT-like competitor on Twitter.
The billionaire CEO has repeatedly expressed concerns about AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and signed an open letter calling on a six-month ban on the development of AIs that are more advanced than OpenAI GPT-4.
Musk needed to use a significant amount of computing power to train a large-scale language model, such as OpenAI’s AI chatbot, which is very popular. According to Insider, Musk spent tens or even hundreds of millions to fund the project.
