We are now heading to Brazil in the South Hemisphere as we continue our virtual journey around the world, per the World Health Organization (WHO) Age Friendly Cities Global Movement during the WHO-defined \”Decade of Healthy Aging\”.
Dr. Alexandre Kalache:
Dr. Alexandre Kalache, a medical epidemiologist who specializes in the study of ageing, is President of the International Longevity Centre-Brazil, an independent think-tank based in Rio de Janeiro, that develops and supports policy related to the aging of populations, and is Co-President of Global Alliance of International Longevity Centres. This international consortium of member organisations has a mission of helping societies to tackle longevity and population aging positively and productively.
Dr. Kalache is a graduate of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro’s medical school. He has also earned diplomas in infectious and parasitic diseases, medical education and a masters in social medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His PhD in Epidemiology was obtained at the University of London.
