Dr. George Church, I and other experts discuss the Woolly Mammoth Project, Human Aging and DNA Data Storage. We also offer advice for people who want to get started.
Lowell interviews Professor George Church, a fascinating researcher on aging. Watch this space as Lifespan.io is also going to be on the show very soon.
Harvard & MIT professor, author of Regenesis. Methods for the 1st genome sequencing (1994), 10M-fold improvement (NGS, Nanopore), genome editing and writing. This episode covers Genghis Khan, Woolly Mammoths, DNA storage, advice for those just starting out, and much more in less than an hour.
George is a very interesting, down-to-earth person (could be an alien or from the future but we cannot confirm). He works to improve our lives. Do what I do whenever you need inspiration and find out what his team is working on. After reading or hearing about the things he and his team are working on, I feel like I could do anything. I hope to one day contribute like he does! We will see what happens. Please email me if you were inspired by his talk. We could start a fan club around George and scientists. Scientists are unsung heroes in our society. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see his entire body of work. It seemed like the whole thing should be here. Tonight, we will be posting hyperlinked show notes for this episode as well as the previous episodes that were missing them!
George Church, Harvard & MIT professor, co-author 480 papers, 130 publications patent & \”Regenesis\”, developed the methods that were used to sequence the first genome (1994) & reduce costs by millions of times since (via NGS & nanopores). He also invented barcoding, DNA assembly using chips, genome writing, recoding & editing. He was a co-initiator of the BRAIN Initiative (2011 & Genome Projects, 1984, 2005) in order to provide & understand the world’s first open-access personal precise medicine datasets.
