Interview with Dr. Vadim gladyshev of Harvard University
Recently, we had the opportunity to chat with Dr. Vadim gladyshev. He is Professor of Medicine and Director Redox Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a specialist in aging, redox biology, and his characterizations of the selenoproteome are well-known. His laboratory is focused on comparative genomes, selenoproteins and redox biology.
Dr. Gladyshev is a graduate of the Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia. He completed his postdoctoral training in the 1990s at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He was interested in science and chemistry since he was a child. He won two regional Olympiads in chemistry, and graduated high school with a medal. The Moscow State University also awarded him the highest honors. Dr. Gladyshev’s impressive track record is made even more impressive by the fact that he completed both music school and high-school at the same time, and also became a national master in chess during his college days.
