Welcome back Katie Brenneman as a regular contributor on 21st Century Tech Blog. When ChatGPT was in the news, I suggested that Katie write about Large Language Modelling and its technological and social implications. Was this new AI discipline a manifestation of consciousness, or are we defining what constitutes our sentience.
Sensitiveness is defined as the ability to feel and experience sensations, not think. Consciousness is our ability to be aware of ourselves and our place within the world. Thinking is the ability to think, solve a problem, have an idea, or express an opinion.
Does ChatGPT, in any of its iterations, meet these definitions? Is it sentient or conscious? Is it conscious or sentient? Does it think?
