Explore the possibilities of slowing aging: Past, present and future

Ageing: Past, Present and Future
Isaac Asimov described a 70-year-old man in his book as a person who would not live very long. The pace of scientific discovery in the field of ageing is accelerating, and science will soon surpass science fiction.

Genetic studies have established that specific genes are conserved in yeast and mice [23.30.34].

In addition to the discovery of AP genes, research on cellular senescence produced complementary results. Cellular senescence has been widely accepted as a tumor-suppressing mechanism, and not just a degeneration of cells. The senescence process is active and triggered by both DNA-damage response (DDR), as well as mitogen-activated pathway activation. Senescent fibroblasts exhibit phenotypes such as hyper-secretion and tissue-altering cytokines, and hypertrophic morphologies. Senescent cells may alter neighboring cells’ behavior [35], as well as cause aging or age-related disease [43]. By knocking out cell-cycle inhibitors like p53, Rb, p21, and p16, you can prevent cellular senescence [44-48].
