Dr. Andrei Gudkov: Interventions for extending healthspan and lifespan 2018
Elena Milova attended the Interventions to prolong healthspan & lifespan 2018 conference this week in Kazan. This conference is a major event in the field of aging research, with a number of experts presenting their research. Elena was able to speak with Andrei Gudkov about his research.
Dr. Andrei V. Gudkov, PhD, D.Sci, has served as Chief Scientific Officer of Cleveland Biolabs, Inc. since June 2003. Dr. Gudkov is Chief Scientific Officer and founder of Everon Biosciences, Inc. He is Chief Scientific Officer of Mega Biotech & Electronics Co., Ltd., which he co-founded. Dr. Gudkov is Senior Vice President for Basic Science at Roswell Cancer Institute. He has more than 25 years’ experience in biomedical and medical research. He worked at the National Cancer Research Center of Moscow (USSR) from 1990 to 1990. There he directed a research program focusing on virology, cancer drug resistance and pharmacology.
He re-established the lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990. In this department, he was appointed a tenured professor. In 1999, Gudkov defined p53 to be a major determinant for cancer treatment side-effects and suggested that this protein could be a therapeutic target. Dr. Gudkov relocated his laboratory in 2001 to the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was Chairman of the Department of Molecular Biology at Case Western Reserve University and Professor of Biochemistry. Since June 2003, he has been a director of Cleveland Biolabs, Inc.
