Dr Andrei Gudkov, PhD, DSci, is a preeminent cancer researcher who serves as Senior Vice President, Research Technology and Innovation, Chair of the Department of Cell Stress Biology, and a member of the senior leadership team for National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (https://www.roswellpark.org/andrei-gudkov).
Dr. Gudkov’s role is to build on the strengths of the Cell Stress Biology Program in the areas of DNA damage and repair and photodynamic therapy as well as thermal and hypoxic stresses and immune modulation.
Dr. Gudkov supports the President and CEO in developing and implementing strategies for new scientific programs, and in enhancing collaborations with academic centers and industry in regional and national areas.
Before joining Roswell, Dr. Gudkov was chair of the Department of Molecular Genetics at Lerner Research Institute and Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He also served as Professor of Biochemistry at Case Western University. He received his Doctorate of Science in Molecular Biology from the Moscow State University and a Doctorate of Experimental Oncology (D.Sci). He is the author or co-author of over 135 scientific papers and holds 27 patents.
Dr. Gudkov has also been a successful entrepreneur, having founded Cleveland BioLabs, Inc., OncoTartis LLC, and Everon Biosciences, Inc.
He is Director and Chief Scientist Advisor of Panacela Labs, Inc., the Chief Scientific officer of OncoTartis LLC, the Chief Scientific officer of Everon Biosciences, Inc., the Chief Science Officer of Genome Protection, Inc., as well as the Chief Scientific advisor of Cleveland BioLabs, Inc. Andrei V. Gudkov also serves on the board of Incuron LLC.
Dr. Gudkov also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board and is author of the founding concept for the Vaika (https://www.vaika.org/) program, a not-for-profit charitable medical research organization with a mission to extend the health-span and life-span of domestic animals, with a focus on aged sled dogs.
