Exploring the Human Metabolome Reference Database across the Adult Lifespan in a Bi-racial Cohort

Human Metabolome Reference Database for a Biracial cohort across the adult life span

Metabolomics is one of the OMICS of systems biology. It defines the metabolome, and quantifies the numerous metabolites which are the final or intermediate products of biological processes and their effectors. Metabolomics can provide accurate information to help determine physiological steady states and biochemical changes that occur during the aging processes. Reference values for metabolites are not available across the lifespan of adults, and this is especially true among ethnic groups. The \”normal\” values for age, gender, and race are a key element of any study that aims to understand mechanisms at the interface of aging and disease.
