Researchers could use the anti-aging properties of roundworms to help stop human aging
The complex dysfunctions associated with aging can be explained by a decreased mitochondrial membrane potential.
Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine have conducted an experiment with C.elegans.
In aging research, roundworms are often used. They have a lifespan ranging from two to three weeks.

The team wants to learn how to modulate the mitochondrial activity directly as part of its research on aging. The mitochondria are the energy centers within living cells. According to the release, among their many essential functions, mitochondria are crucial for cellular metabolism and energy production.
