Exploring the potential of Senolytics – Results from a Pilot Human Study on Senescent Cell-Clearing drugs

Human Pilot Study Results Published for Senolytics

Published are the results of a human study that focused treatment idiopathic lung fibrosis using senescent-cell-clearing agents. The drugs are designed to remove damaged and aged cells from the body. They may be responsible for aging and illness.

Senescent cells, aging and senescent cells

As we age, more and more of our cells begin to malfunction, entering a state called senescence. Senescent cells no longer divide or support the tissues and organs of which they are part; instead, they secrete a range of harmful inflammatory chemical signals, which are collectively known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).
