First human trial of a promising anti-aging treatment that kills senescent cells passes

The first human trial of an experimental anti-aging treatment that kills old cells has been successful

Not all damaged cell die. Some cells remain as senescent, which are unable to multiply but can still produce chemical signals. They could play an important role in the fight against aging.

According to MIT Technology Review, \”it is believed that these cells and substances they produce play a role in the aging process,\” said longevity researcher Nicolas Musi of the University of Texas at Austin.

The idea is to remove these cells to promote healthy ageing and to prevent diseases associated with aging.
