Francesco Neo Amati (CM of Transhumanism) explains the philosophy of transhumanism as a reflection of an advanced civilisation.

Francesco Neo Amati (CM of Transhumanism, The Future of Humanity) has written a fantastic post on Transhumanism.

This is a great example of the collaborative and pragmatic nature of our community. Transhumanists like Francesco Neo Amati make me proud to be one.

\”Community Announcement:

This post will clarify what Transhumanism is, and is not. It will also address common misconceptions about it.

I do not want to be a leader in the Transhumanism movement. I hope to remain and be a credible resource, a passionate advocate and a voice for reason in the Transhumanism movement.

ICYDK:

Our community was founded by me and I am the CM. I started it in 2014 after being interested in Transhumanism since 2010, which complemented my passion for the philosophy of Self-Actualization/Transcendence (i.e. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs; Bruce Lee’s Self-Actualization; Nietzsche’s Ubermensch; Plato’s Realm of Forms; Aristotle Metaphysics of Being/Becoming and Emerson’s Transcendentalism are all examples. ).

I am a BA in Philosophy and minor in Psychology. In 2011, I was inspired to give a presentation in my Philosophy of Science course on the Philosophy of Transhumanism by Deus Ex Human Revolution, one of my favorite games. I have also written articles on Transhumanism, for Gray Scott’s archived Techno-philosophical website Serious Wonder.

I created this community to create a space where people from all backgrounds and belief systems (atheists and agnostics as well as religious and spiritual believers) could come together and learn, grow, and discuss the philosophy of Transhumanism. I created this community to create a place where people of all different backgrounds and beliefs (atheists, agnostics, religious, spiritual, etc.) could learn, grow and discuss the philosophy and challenges of Transhumanism.

Our community has grown to over 15 thousand members. This makes us the second-largest Transhumanism group on Facebook, behind Scientific Transhumanism, which has 19+k. However, these numbers reflect a lack of mainstream support, education, and exposure for the movement.

According to the Kardashev Scale, we are still a Type 0 Civilization. Transhumanism can be achieved by a paradigm change in consciousness and awareness, similar to the one astronauts experienced in space. Look at the Queen’s Gambit and how it boosted Chess’ popularity. Imagine a phenomenon that would have the same kind of impact and influence on all people, but in Transhumanism. It’s a question of when, not if.

Transhumanism will not achieve its goals or fulfill its purpose if the core philosophy is not emphasized. It cannot remain a ‘club’ or niche.

It’s been \”hijacked\” by several ‘leaders’ and parties. Misconstrued and misrepresented in order to support and push ulterior agendas. Even more disturbing is the conservativism still prevalent amongst transhumanists. There is prejudice against feminists, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and racism. This is a disturbing trend which needs to be stopped for the good of our movement, the humanity and the whole world.

Transhumanism, while not exclusively atheist, is not an anti-religion. Extremists can take many forms. I am not here to support or defend any of them regardless of their beliefs.

We don’t want to promote or proselytize a religion. Nor do we care about what you believe, or how you practice it, so long as nothing in your beliefs or practices is harmful to others or violates our rules.

Transhumanists can be religious, as long as they don’t interfere with the Transhumanist core. Does a doctor’s ability or skill to provide care for their patients depend on his or her political or religious views? No. In this case, and in our community, the same is true.

How severe is the conflict if, on the other hand their religious views are in opposition to Transhumanism? Are they disruptive, threatening or trying to convert you? I don’t see any problem with making a place that is welcoming to all, religious or not, if the answers are no. Most of the world’s population is religious, in some way. Were we to dismiss them all because they had faith? What if all or some religions?
