Google accused of misusing personal data and copyrighted material to train AI systems

Google is hit with a class-action suit over AI data scraping

On July 11, (Reuters), Alphabet’s Google (GOOGL.O), was accused of misusing large amounts of personal data and copyrighted materials to train its artificial-intelligence systems.

Eight individuals filed a complaint in San Francisco Federal Court on behalf of millions of internet users, copyright holders and others. They claimed that Google’s scraping data from websites without permission violated their property and privacy rights.

In a recent statement, plaintiffs’ lawyer Ryan Clarkson stated that \”Google does own the internet. It does not have ownership of our creative works. It does not have ownership of our expressions, our family pictures, our children or anything else, simply because we shared it online.\”
