Google’s Password manager now supports biometric authentication for desktop
Google wants to make passwords easier to use, and more secure — at least for Chrome users who use the Password Manager.
The tech giant announced today that Password Manager will soon be able to perform biometric authentication for PC. This program generates unique passwords, and fills them in automatically across all platforms. Android and iOS already have biometric authentication. Chrome will autofill passwords only after it has been enabled.
The types of biometrics available in Password Manager for desktop depend, of course, on the hardware connected to the PC (e.g. The PC operating system must also support a fingerprint scanner. Google did not say exactly when the feature would be available, other than \”soon\”.
