Google’s Calico – the war on aging has truly begun
Google’s announcement of their new venture, Calico, to extend human lifespan, is perhaps the end of the beginning, not the end or even the beginning of it.

Since the dawning of civilization, mankind has been bound by the knowledge of the fact that no lifestyle, no medicine and no chance of destiny can allow anyone to survive more than a few years without experiencing a progressive decline in mental and physical function. This will lead to inevitable death. This knowledge is so soul-destroying for most people that we’ve built our entire worldview and society around ways to ignore it, mainly by convincing ourselves that aging can be a positive thing. Why not? Why bother?
