Google must stop wasting money on Bard
If Google wants to catch Microsoft at its I/O Developer Conference, it needs to rethink AI strategy. What’s missing? Experimentation.
Google has been having a tough six months. Google has struggled to prove its AI credentials since ChatGPT was launched in November last year. This was followed by Bing and GPT-4, both of which were released in February. The company’s \”experimental chatbot Bard\” compares poorly with rivals and reports from insiders portray a company that is in disarray and panic. The company must convince its public (and investors) at the annual I/O Conference that it has an effective response. To do this, the company needs a fresh playbook.
