IBM Watsonx: Unlocking Enterprise AI Adoption Potential

IBM launches watsonx, paving a path to faster enterprise AI adoption

IBM Think is the annual conference of the company. Around 4,000 IBM staff, customers and partners attended to hear about the latest updates and innovations. The event was filled with announcements. However, watsonx, IBM’s AI-focused announcement, attracted significant attention.

After attending the event and listening to IBM executives, as well as reading the recent AI and generative AI news, I think that IBM’s watsonx announcement is a major milestone in the development of enterprise AI. Watsonx, built on the Red Hat OpenShift Platform, offers a complete tech stack for training and deploying AI capabilities in any cloud environment. This move by IBM shows the importance of supporting generative AI and the potential benefits for businesses from this technology. This announcement, in my opinion, is one of the most important ones. It ties together a lot of exciting generative AI analysis and news with practical connective tissue that will drive enterprise adoption.

Watsonx is composed of three components: watsonx.ai watsonx.data and watsonx.governance. Watsonx.ai is the first component and includes a design studio that allows for machine learning, generative AI, base models, etc. It is a tool that can be used to tune and deploy AI models such as IBM-supplied models, open source models and client-supplied models. The software is in preview now with selected IBM clients and partners and will be released to the public in July.
