Gut bacteria and immune system are linked
Scientists at EPFL have found that a malfunction in the immune system may lead to an overabundance of gut bacteria. The bacteria produces excess lactic acids, which triggers the release of reactive oxygen species. These reactive oxygen species cause cell damage and age-related diseases.
