Nanobody Research to Receive Major Funding
AgomAb has announced that it has successfully acquired a second round ($74M) of funding for research into the application of antibodies in the field regenerative medicine. Antibodies are already receiving a lot of attention because they can positively affect many conditions, such as inflammation and metabolic disorders.
Antibodies, which are small proteins molecules, are used by the immune system to \”tag\” foreign pathogens so that they can be identified and destroyed. The unique thing about these antibodies, is that they only attach to one pathogen at a time (at an antigen site). In some cases, binding an antibody to a virus or other pathogen is sufficient to render it harmless.
