After a ‘fantastic’ human trial, the first anti-ageing drug could be a drug that clears ‘zombie’ cells from the body.
After the first human trial showed ‘impressive results’, a drug that fights ageing could be available soon.
Scientists have known for many years that senescent cell accumulation in the body can lead to symptoms of ageing such as arthritis and frailty, and diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.
Senescent cells, also known as \”zombie cells\”, are not dead and are therefore not removed by the body. However, they are damaged enough to not be able to repair tissues or perform normal functions. The body slowly deteriorates because it is unable to repair or remove waste.
