Japanese researchers create robot arms that ‘unlock creativity.’
TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) – What would the world look like if cyborg parts were available to rent like bicycles at roadside? Masahiko Iami’s University of Tokyo team has created wearable robotic arms to explore this question.
Inami’s group is developing a set of technologies that are based on the concept of \”jizai\”, a Japanese term which, according to him, roughly signifies autonomy and freedom.
The goal is to create a relationship similar to that between musician and tool. \”Lying somewhere between a person and a machine, just like how a musical device can feel like a part your body.\”
