Accelerating Research to Prevent & Cure Disease – Dr. Kevin Perrott Ph.D. Founder & CEO of OpenCures, Co-Founder & Treasury, SENS Research Foundation
Dr. Kevin Perrott, Ph.D. is Founder and CEO, OpenCures (https://opencures.org/), Adjunct Professor, University of Alberta, Co-Founder and Advisor, Oisin Biotechnologies, President, of Global Healthspan Policy Institute, and Co-Founder and Treasurer, SENS Research Foundation.
Kevin is an entrepreneur who owns the largest motorcycle dealership and skidoo sales in Canada. This is Riverside Honda and Skidoo Sales, located in Edmonton, Alberta. Kevin became a survivor of cancer, which highlighted the shortcomings of the current paradigm of health technology development where customers have little or no say in developing their own solutions. Kevin was able to realize that health is the most valuable thing in the world and that it’s important to spend time with loved ones. He decided to focus his efforts on addressing the deficiencies.
Kevin formed the Methuselah Foundation in 2003 with Aubrey de Grey, David Gobel and others. The foundation offered prizes for advancements in longevity science. Kevin became co-founder of the SENS Research Foundation with Aubrey de Grey, and other members. The foundation was created to create interventions that could repair or neutralize damage that builds up and is at the root of multiple age-related diseases. Kevin founded OpenCures, a nonprofit corporation, to help individuals conduct self-directed research and generate data. The data can then be used to focus on health solutions that are important.
Kevin has written and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed papers that all focus on accelerating science behind the development therapies for degenerative disease. He has co-founded multiple for-profit and non-profit organizations whose missions align with this purpose.
Kevin holds a PhD in Biomedical engineering from the University of Alberta. He has also completed work at the Campisi Lab of Buck Institute, studying the effects of natural substances on senescence. Kevin also holds a BSc in Biology and Chemistry, with a double major.
