AUB’s University for Seniors, a lifelong learning initiative for seniors, is the first program of its kind to be launched in Lebanon or the Middle East. The University for Seniors gives older adults (over 50) the chance to share their knowledge and passion in a friendly academic setting, and learn things they’ve always wanted to know. They can also interact with AUB faculty, students and other seniors.

Abi Chahine is a passionate advocate for health and well-being issues, and she has a MA in Public Policy and Ageing from King’s College London. She also works as a researcher and researcher on third age learning. Her portfolio includes collaborations between UN agencies such as WHO, United Nations Population Fund and International Labour Organization as well as INGOs like HelpAge International, and universities in the UK.

Abi Chahine is a 21-year veteran of setting up and managing programs, particularly in the areas of education, public health and gerontology. She has developed her skills over the course of a multifaceted career by spearheading strategic initiatives, setting up institutionalization mechanisms, and managing daily operations to ensure customer satisfaction and growth.

Ms. Abichahine, along with her team at AUB, has led the University for Seniors for 10 years. She recently co-led the writing of the first National Strategy on Ageing for Lebanon with Dr. Abla Meshio Sibai, the Co-Founder and current President of a newly established \”Center for Studies on Ageing\” in Lebanon.

Abi Chahine has been recognized for her work by the WHO Centre for Health Development, which selected the AUB lifelong learning program that she is leading and transforming as one of 10 innovative community-based innovations in low- and middle-income nations.

Abi Chahine enjoys nature and discovering new cultures, countries, and people when she is not working. She loves to explore new ways of evolving and growing!
