Meta previews of generative AI tools coming soon to WhatsApp Messenger and Instagram plus internal AI tools
Meta showcased this week its work on new generative AI technology for its consumer products including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger as well as internal technologies. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, announced at an all-hands-meeting that several AI technologies are in various stages. These include AI chatbots and stickers for Messenger and WhatsApp as well as other tools to allow photo editing on Instagram Stories.
Axios was the first to report the news about the consumer-facing AI agent and photo-editing tool. The larger presentation covered a variety of areas in which Meta develops AI technologies, and provided commentary on where Meta sees the space heading.
The company also announced that it will host an internal AI Hackathon focused on generative AI in July. This could lead to new AI products being made available to Meta’s customers.
