Meta unveils CodeCompose, an AI-powered code-generation tool similar to GitHub’s Copilot

Meta created a model that generates code similar to Copilot

Meta has created a generative AI coding tool similar to GitHub Copilot.

The announcement was made at an event focusing on Meta’s AI infrastructure efforts. Meta is building custom chips to speed up the training of AI models. CodeCompose is not available to the public yet. Meta’s teams are using it internally, Meta claims. They get code suggestions as they type Python or other languages in IDEs such as VS Code.

Michael Bolin said, in a video prerecorded, that the underlying model was built on top public research by [Meta] which we had tuned to our internal codebases and use cases. \”On the product-side, we are able to incorporate CodeCompose in any surface where our data scientists or developers work with code.\”
