Microsoft and Alphabet Report Quarterly Results: Slow Returns On AI Investments

AI is a hot topic for tech CEOs, but it will take some time before AI has a significant impact on sales.

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O), and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL.O), the parent company of Google, talked up their investments in artificial-intelligence (AI) for a second quarter in a line. However, their results on February 26 suggested that any significant additions to sales would be slow.

Tech giants have released a range of products they claim are loaded with generative AI. This technology creates new content (text, images, code) from historical data. Microsoft-backed OpenAI launched ChatGPT, which is a chatbot with human-like responses.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella said that the most advanced AI models and the most universal user interface, natural language, are coming together to create a \”new era of computing\”.
