Year 2011 face_with_colon_three
Only a year before, the \”miracle-powder\” of ACell was shown to stimulate regeneration of fingers after amputated fingertips. The powder’s ability to regenerate was met with both amazement and skepticism. It was hailed as a revolutionary breakthrough in regenerative medicine, or branded as quack science.
A fingertip, that’s one thing. A thigh is quite different.
One marine who lost most of his leg muscle due to a battlefield blast was given a second opportunity when a miracle powder allowed him to grow much of it back. This is not just a great feel-good story. It also shows that the same powder can regenerate different tissues, which suggests we have only explored a fraction of its potential.
