NASA awards Space Act Agreement contract for commercial astronaut jetpack
As it prepares for the future beyond the International Space Station, the US space agency is continuing to plan with the private sector in mind.
NASA has awarded Special Aerospace Services (SAS), a Space Act Agreement Contract, to develop a commercialized version of its Autonomous Maneuvering Unit astronaut jetpack (AMU).
The US space agency is looking ahead to a world without the International Space Station, in which private companies would build and launch a series commercial space stations into low-Earth orbit.
