Neuralink has received FDA approval to begin clinical trials

The company said that it was nearing the start of clinical trials for the implants as early as 2020. However, the December update indicated that they were still six month away. The company now claims the FDA has approved the start of human tests.
Neuralink has not yet begun recruiting test subjects. There are also no details on what will be involved in the trials. The ClinicalTrials.gov database also returns nothing when searching for \”Neuralink\”. Initial trials are usually small and focused on safety, rather than effectiveness. Neuralink, which is developing brain implants as well as a robot that will implant them, has a lot of testing to do.
These will likely focus first on the implants, as other implants have been tested in human beings, but an equivalent robotic surgical system has not.
