NMN Restores the Brain Function: A new Development in Longevity Research

NMN Restores Brain Function

Researchers have shown that the treatment of aged mice with NMN (a precursor to NAD+) restores neurovascular coupling. This discovery is exciting because NVC deficiency appears to be a significant factor in age-related declines of cognitive and motor function.

Neurovascular coupling

Operating this machine is a significant resource drain. The cerebral blood flow (CBF), which is only 2% of the body’s mass, accounts for 20% of total oxygen consumption at rest and 15% of cardiac output. NVC controls this complex process of constantly redirecting CBF to active brain regions. The CBF/cardiac out put ratio declines with age.
