The role of these changes, and their underlying mechanisms, are still not well understood. The authors found that the nuclear membrane anchor protein ANC-1, in worms and its equivalent nesprin-1, and nesprin-2, in mammals, promotes nuclear component degradation to limit nucleolar function and size in a mechanism of soma longevity.
