Open-source AI is defined as software developers collaborating on artificial intelligence projects which are open for the public to develop. The goal is better integrating computing with humankind. Early in March, Meta’s LLaMA was leaked and made available to the open-source community. OpenSource AI models with innovative features such as instruction tuning, quantization and quality improvement, human evals and multimodality are available in just a few weeks.
Open-source models offer greater flexibility, are more customizable, are more private and more capable. Even market leaders struggle to do things with $100 and 13B parameters. Vicuna is one open-source software solution.
