OpenAI’s unexpected U-turn: ChatGPT browse feature deactivated

ChatGPT browsing deactivated just a week after launch

OpenAI, the company behind the AI chatbot, tweeted that just a week after ChatGPT Browse was launched on the iOS app it had to disable it because the feature displayed content in a way \”we didn’t like.\”

This feature allowed users to bypass paywalls and access subscription-based material without paying for subscriptions. If a user asks specifically for the full text of a URL, it could accidentally fulfill this request. We’re disabling Browse until we fix this. Want to be fair to content owners,\” continued the tweet.

OpenAI did not see this coming.
