Qualcomm to acquire Israeli auto-chip maker Autotalks
May 8, (Reuters) – Chip designer Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM.O), which makes chips for technology aimed to prevent vehicle crashes, announced on Monday that it will buy Israel’s Autotalks Ltd. The Israeli company produces chips that are used in the technology aimed to prevent vehicle accidents.
The number of automakers using chips is increasing due to the increase in electric vehicles and the automatic features that are being added. This makes the automotive market an important growth area for the chip industry.
Autotalks makes dedicated chips used in the vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications technology for manned and driverless vehicles to improve road safety.
