AI-powered crater detector algorithm unlocks the secrets of space
Researchers at the University of Aberdeen have developed an AI algorithm that detects planetary craters accurately, efficiently, and with flexibility.

A team of scientists at the University of Aberdeen developed a new algorithm which could revolutionize planet studies. According to a press release, the new technology allows scientists to accurately map the surfaces of planets using different types of data.

The team developed a new universal algorithm for crater detection (CDA), using the Segment Any Model (SAM), a model of artificial intelligence (AI) that can identify and remove any object from any image.
