The lower mouse, with its sluggish body, worn-out eyes, and hair loss could be the father of a vivacious and alert animal nestled next to it.

They are the same age as a result of the extraordinary drug trials that have slowed down or reversed the ageing process.

Scientists believe that ageing is the cause of many serious conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, cancer and heart disease. They think they’ve found a way of turning it off.
